How to Batch Convert AVIF to JPG on Windows Offline
AVIF can store small, high-quality modern images, but a legacy content system, editor, print service, or recipient may require JPEG. Offline batch conversion removes upload limits and gives you one place to review alpha handling, output quality, color, names, and folder structure.

AVIF is a modern image format built on AV1 coding and can be more efficient than JPEG. Convert only when the destination cannot accept AVIF or when a predictable JPEG workflow matters more than the smaller modern source.
Keep the original AVIF. Both AVIF and JPEG can be lossy, so converting between them cannot recover missing detail and repeated generations can compound artifacts.
Handle transparency and appearance explicitly
An AVIF may include transparency, while JPEG cannot. Choose the intended background before encoding and inspect semitransparent edges, shadows, and overlays. Use PNG instead when transparency must survive.
Preview at the final display size and at 100 percent. Very compressed sources may contain smooth gradients or fine textures that react differently to a second lossy encoder, so one quality number is not equally suitable for every file.
Set JPEG quality and dimensions deliberately
Begin near quality 82, preserve the ICC profile when needed, and resize only when the delivery destination has a smaller real pixel requirement. Enable Never enlarge so small AVIF assets are not softened by accidental upscaling.
If the destination enforces a strict byte ceiling, use exact target-size mode rather than repeatedly guessing a quality value. The application evaluates each image separately because visual complexity affects the bytes required.
Run a reversible folder batch
Add a complete folder, preserve subdirectories, select a separate output root, and inspect planned names and collisions. Use a recipe when the same compatibility conversion will recur for future content deliveries.
After conversion, open several JPEG outputs in the actual destination software, inspect color and small details, and retain the report. The source AVIF files remain available if a newer workflow can use them directly later.
