How to Automatically Convert Images with a Watch Folder on Windows
A watch folder removes repetitive drag-and-drop work. New files are converted only after they stop changing, using a saved recipe and a separate output location that avoids conversion loops.
Create and test a recipe in UtiliVera Image, then start the CLI with the input folder, output folder, recipe, and --watch. New stable files use the same validated settings as manual conversion, including CAD layouts and layers.

Start with a representative file in the graphical interface. Choose format, dimensions, quality or target size, metadata, naming, folder preservation, and any professional loading controls. Preview the result and review the Output Plan.
Save the complete setup as a recipe. A watch folder should not be the place where untested settings are discovered.
Separate input and output
Use different folders for incoming and converted files. Writing output back into the watched input can create loops or make downstream tools process files twice.
Keep folder preservation enabled when incoming jobs include subfolders. Choose an explicit collision policy so repeated names are renamed, skipped, or overwritten according to the workflow rather than by accident.
Wait for files to become stable
Files copied over a network or exported by another application may appear before their bytes are complete. UtiliVera's watch mode waits for a new file to remain stable before importing it.
This matters for large RAW, PDF, DWG, and multipage files. A premature reader can misclassify an incomplete file as corrupt and leave a silent gap in the batch.
Monitor reports, not just the output folder
A successful automation flow records completed, skipped, and failed files. Review the JSON report programmatically or keep CSV and text reports for operators.
Test the watch flow with a copy of real production inputs, stop it cleanly, and confirm no child conversion processes remain. Then schedule or launch it with the Windows mechanism appropriate to your environment.
