Decide whether you need rendered pages or extracted images
PDF-to-JPG conversion renders the complete visible page, including text, vector artwork, images, annotations that are part of the rendered appearance, and the page background. It is appropriate when the goal is one image per page.
If you need an original embedded photograph at its native compression and resolution, use a dedicated PDF image-extraction workflow instead. Rendering and extraction solve different problems and should not be described as interchangeable.
Choose resolution from the destination
Small web previews need fewer pixels than a page intended for zooming or print review. Set the long edge or output dimensions high enough that body text remains readable, then inspect a dense representative page in the comparison view.
Higher resolution increases memory, processing time, and JPEG size. Avoid rendering every page at print-scale dimensions when the destination only displays a small preview; resize before applying stronger compression.
Keep pages and documents in an unambiguous order
For several PDFs, preserve source folders or include the document stem and a padded page index in the output name. Padding keeps page-0002 before page-0010 in normal filename sorting.
Select only the pages required by the destination, inspect Output Plan for duplicate paths, and keep each document's outputs grouped. A batch report provides the source-to-output mapping when hundreds of pages are involved.
Protect confidential documents and verify the result
Local conversion avoids sending contracts, records, statements, or internal documents to an online converter. Use a separate destination and apply the metadata policy appropriate for the sharing context.
Open the first, middle, and last JPEG after conversion. Verify page count, order, orientation, text readability, crop boundaries, and color. Keep the original PDF because JPEG pages do not preserve searchable text, links, forms, layers, or vector editability.
