How to Batch Convert Camera RAW Files to JPG on Windows

CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, and related formats contain camera-specific sensor information and more editing latitude than a finished JPEG. Converting them does not make the JPEG an equivalent archival replacement.
Use JPEG for sharing, review, web delivery, and broad application compatibility. Keep RAW files and any sidecar edits so white balance, exposure, highlight recovery, noise treatment, and camera profiles can be revisited later.
Test the decoder result against your intended look
A camera manufacturer's application may apply a proprietary picture style that another decoder does not reproduce identically. Preview representative images before running the full shoot, especially files with difficult white balance, high ISO, deep shadows, clipped highlights, or unusual lenses.
If a photograph needs individual creative development, finish it in a RAW editor first. Batch conversion is strongest for proofs, contact sheets, review copies, and consistently exposed groups rather than replacing selective photographic editing.
Choose JPEG settings for the delivery job
Start near quality 88 for high-quality delivery copies, then inspect hair, foliage, fabric, text, and gradients. Resize for the actual destination and enable Never enlarge so low-resolution sources are not softened.
Preserve the ICC profile and capture date when the workflow depends on them. Remove GPS before external sharing when location privacy matters, while retaining other camera metadata only when it is useful.
Organize mixed-camera batches safely
Preserve shoot folders or include capture date, camera model, and a padded index in output names. Camera-generated stems can collide when several bodies or memory cards restart numbering.
Review Output Plan, write to a separate JPEG root, and retain the report as a mapping from every RAW source to its output. Open samples from the beginning, middle, and end of the batch before delivery.
